Greystones - Co. Wicklow
Set in the shadow of the famous Wicklow Mountains, Charlesland Golf Club, designed by Ireland’s most celebrated and prolific course designer, Eddie Hackett, has always been known as a challenging, but fair, test of golf in a beautiful setting with splendid views including the spectacular Sugar Loaf Mountain. The course at just less than 7,000 yards from the championship tees skirts the Irish Sea for the best part of the front nine and the home run is true parkland with many attractive and demanding holes where water comes into play on seven holes.
From the back tees it can present a stern test for the low handicap golfer as wind is an ever-present factor and there are many tough par-4s with well-guarded greens. But with generous landing areas there are also good scoring opportunities on the par-5s, and a variety of tees allows all golfers a fair and enjoyable game while the club, founded in 1992, offers a great golfing experience it is also renowned for the quality of its welcome and its service.
